Find What You Want: How the Filter Bar Puts You in Control
Most platforms decide what you see — and how you see it. At ineedthis, we wanted to make that more flexible.
The Filter Bar gives you direct control over how your feed looks and feels. It works alongside our discovery algorithms, letting you combine intelligent sorting with your own preferences — so you’re always seeing content that fits the way you want to browse.
With just a few quick settings, you can switch between immersive views, focus on specific post types, or filter by purpose, time, or language. It’s a more dynamic way to explore, powered by both personalization and choice.
1. Spatial Content Only
At the start of the Filter Bar, you’ll see the toggle for Spatial Content Only. Turn it on, and your feed will display only immersive formats — 3D photos, videos, and panoramas.
It’s perfect when you want to explore creative or experiential posts. Turn it off to return to all content across the platform.
2. View Mode
You decide how your feed is presented.
• Expand Mode focuses on one post at a time for a clean, scroll-based view.
• Grid Mode displays multiple posts per row, letting you take in more at once and browse visually across several updates or media types at a glance.
It’s an easy way to match your layout to your browsing style.
3. Sort By
The Sort setting lets you choose between New and Trending. Sorting by New shows you the latest posts as they’re shared. Sorting by Trending uses our algorithm to surface posts that are gaining attention across the community — based on activity like likes, comments, and engagement patterns.
You can move between them anytime, so your feed can highlight what’s most current or what’s making waves.
4. Content Type
The Filter Bar also lets you choose what kinds of content you see. Select from all content, or narrow your view to pings, posts, photos, videos, audio, files, links, polls, reposts, quotes, products, services, or campaigns.
It’s a simple way to focus on the formats that matter most to you.
5. Purpose Type
ineedthis is built around connecting people through shared intent. You can filter by:
• All — see every kind of post
• Sharing — general updates and discoveries
• Needs — requests for something
• Haves — offers or resources to share
This helps tailor your feed to the kind of interaction you want — whether that’s exploring ideas, helping others, or finding what you need.
6. Time Period
Fine-tune your browsing window by selecting Anytime, Today, This Week, This Month, or This Year. It’s useful when you want to revisit older conversations or just catch up on what’s new.
7. Languages
You can also filter by language — selecting one or several. Your feed will then highlight posts written in those languages, giving you the option to explore globally or focus locally.
A Smarter Way to Browse
Each filter works independently, but together they create a personalized, adaptive experience. The Filter Bar helps you decide how algorithms interact with your preferences — giving you a balance of intelligent discovery and hands-on control.
You can shape not just what you see, but how you experience it — by format, focus, tone, or time.
Try the Filter Bar
You can find the Filter Bar in different places depending on your device:
• On desktop, it’s located at the top center of the page, next to the Search bar.
• On mobile, you’ll find it in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
Tap or click to open it, and try adjusting your filters — switch layouts, explore spatial posts, or fine-tune your preferences. The more you experiment, the more your feed becomes a space that truly reflects what you want to see.
